to provide a safe space for women’s NGOs in order for them to work together on tackling the issue of violence against women
to strengthen the voice of women’s NGOs with a view to influencing public policies on violence against women based on the views and experience of women – survivors of male violence
to work towards securing sustainable sources of funding for women’s NGOs working in the field of combating violence against women
MEMBER ORGANISATIONS
Currently, the network has seven member organizations from seven different cities in Slovakia. Four of the network members – Fenestra, OZ HANA, Pomoc rodine, PROGRESFEM and Zena v tiesni – run counselling centres where they provide specialist support services to women experiencing violence and operate local help lines. Another member organisation, KOTVA n.o., is a women’s shelter providing a safe place, counselling and other support services for women and their children. One network member, Moznost volby, focuses its work on primary prevention of violence against women and carries out trainings and advocacy activities. All network members also engage in awareness raising and campaigns to end violence against women.
STEERING GROUP
Women’s Safety Network is coordinated by the steering group consisting of one representative from each member organisation appointed for a period of one year. The steering group ensures that all member organisations are involved in strategic decisions relevant to the Network’s goals. The Network members agreed to work towards consensus wherever possible; 75% majority is required if a vote is taken.
